Swimming Lessons
Group Lessons
Group lessons will be in 2-week sessions, with classes Monday-Friday. There will be one Pre-school session for younger children as well as four regular summer sessions. Applications are available at the Manager's Office and at the desk at the pool. Please sign up and pay early for these lessons as this will make it more likely that your class will be held at your choice of times. Please indicate on the application optimal lesson times as it assists the supervisor in arranging lessons. In order to hold a class, 4-6 students must be signed up. Parents of interested students will be notified at least five days prior to the first class about the status of the class.
Times for regular lessons: all lessons Monday-Friday
Little and Middle Swimmers (Child only, no parent) Sessions I-IV (See below)
10-10:30 a.m. or 10:30-11 a.m. (Available time periods for 4-6 year olds)
11-11:30 a.m. or 11:30-12 noon (Available time periods for 6-9 year olds)
Youth Swimmers Session I-IV (See below) 2-2:30 p.m. (generally 9-12 year olds)
Afternoon lessons may be set up to assist families where both parents are employed and are subsequently unable to attend morning lessons. Because of a limited amount of space and staff during these peak afternoon hours, only a finite number of lessons can be arranged. In order to hold an afternoon lesson, between four and six students must be interested. Afternoon lessons run for two weeks from 5:00-5:30 p.m. Please let the Pool Supervisor know if you are interested in this option.
Group Lesson Rates
The club charges $40.00 per child for the half hour group lessons and $50.00 for the forty-five minute lessons per child for two week sessions. No outside instructors may teach at the FSRA. Please make checks for group lessons to FSRA. The two-week sessions include 10 class periods for all children; if, because of weather, lessons have to be canceled, the first missed day will NOT be made up - it is planned for. All other missed days (as a class) will be made up as scheduled by the individual instructors. If individual children become sick and miss classes, we cannot offer refunds.
NOTE: NON-MEMBERS MAY NOT TAKE LESSONS AT THE FSRA POOLS
Private Lessons
Private lessons are scheduled between the student(s) and the Pool Supervisor or lifeguard. Private lessons, by their nature, are more intensive and specialized All guards who work full-time are qualified to teach private lessons. Parents should bear in mind that children will often work better with one teacher than another. Problems or questions can be handled by the Pool Supervisor. Guards are not allowed to teach while they are on duty. Rates are the same for all instructors. The rates for 2006 will be $10.00 per half hour. Persons interested in private lessons should talk with the Pool Supervisor and fill out a private lesson request form which is available at the pool desk.
Water Babies (9 months-2 years) and Tiny Tots (2-4 years)
These lessons will be taught if we have enough interest to initiate a class.
