Electronic forms are used in a variety of applications at UNC-Chapel Hill. Some of these applications are widely available on campus, such as Blackboard discussion forums, and others are only available to certain schools or departments, such as WebCT and Web-assign. In addition, customized forms available on a variety of UNC-Chapel Hill web sites may have been built with the help of ColdFusion, Microsoft ASP, PHP, and the ITS mailform tool.
This wide variety of forms above has undergone limited evaluation with screen-reading software (JAWS 5.0, the campus standard) used by students with visual disabilities. All the forms evaluated could be completed and submitted with screen-reading software. However, users who depend on screen-reading software should be referred to the Forms section in the document Accessible Electronic Content: Instructions for Screen Readers for tips for navigating in and using online forms.
