Heidi Tinsman is associate professor of history and affiliate faculty in women's studies at the University of California, Irvine. She is author of, Partners in Conflict; The Politics of Gender and Sexuality in the Chilean Agrarian Reform, 1950-1973 (Duke, 2002), and is currently working on a new book about gender, authoritarian politics, and consumer culture in Chile and the United States during the 1970s and 1980s.
