Learn Spanish Online!

Working Spanish for Educators

Working Spanish, a program developed and administered for the past four years by the NC Global Center at UNC-Chapel Hill has now been customized to an online version exclusively for Educators.  Working Spanish for Educators is designed to enable teachers, administrators, and other school personnel learn enough Spanish to communicate with Latino students and their families.

Learning activities include online worksheets that provide immediate feedback, interactive exercises conducted via a discussion forum with fellow students and the instructor, and conversation hours conducted weekly via audio chat sessions. The lessons and activities focus on promoting communication in the educational environment and developing cross-cultural understanding.

Except for the 9-day trip to Mexico that occurs during level 3 of the 3-step program, you can do everything – including weekly oral conversation hours – over the Internet!  Each level takes 10 weeks and costs $390. The next 10-week sessions begin on January 13, 2003.  There are partial scholarships available cut the cost to $200 and there are also group discounts available.  If you tell the Global Center you are a participant of a past or upcoming World View program, you will automatically receive a $50 discount, in addition to any other discount or scholarship for which you are eligible.
