Wilkes Community College Summer Forum
Wilkes Community College is hosting a summer forum titled, Global Education: Internationalizing the Curriculum. The event will be held on Friday, June 13, 2008. Registration and breakfast begins at 8:00 am and the forum ends at 2:00 pm. Dr. Rebecca Garland, the Executive Director of North Carolina State Board of Education and Dr. Scott Ralls, the President of the North Carolina Community College System will be the keynote speakers. The forum will address internationalizing the curriculum from three perspectives: the administration, the community college, and the high school. The final program and cost of meals will be sent to local community colleges and high schools.
World View Now Offers Three Online Globalization Courses!
Globalization: An Introduction for Principals and Other School Leaders (October 1 - November 11)
Globalization: An Introduction for K-12 Teachers (October 1- November 11)
Globalization: An Introduction for Community College (June 4 - July 15)
These courses immerse educators from all leadership roles and disciplines in an intensive exploration of the rapid global changes in government, economics, environment and heath, culture, and technology impacting their schools and communities, our country, and the planet.
An online version of World View's week-long on campus “Global Education Leaders Program,” these six-week courses require participants to read, discuss, and reflect on the most important issues facing America and the world today. The courses will introduce educators to university and other resources for continued learning of global issues. As a final project, each participant will present an Action Plan for their classroom, school, school system, or college to support the development of globally competitive graduates. Four CEU credits are offered for successful completion of the course. To register online, click here.

For the past three years, World View has been arranging epal connections between Rotary Scholars abroad and North Carolina classes and schools. These epal connections give students a personal view into life in another world region and culture, increasing global awareness.
