Dust Yourself Off and Try Again

My first time trying out for the school basketball team: In 7th grade was hard. It made me feel like I wanted to quit because of all the running and layups. I got tired of doing it. The layups were easy in my left hand. But hard in my right hand. The running made me mad because I was out of shape. It was very hot in the gym. There was a lot of tall people trying out. I was only 5’4” last year at tryouts. Now I am 5’8”. Now there is a problem with positioning. We have a point guard and a shooting guard. We have a small forward, but there is no way coach will put me at power forward. All three positions listed are taken because people from last year on the team will start, because of experience. So I have to work hard to get the starting position unless coach makes some changes in the line up. It was painful and embarrassing to not make the team, and I was one of the better 7th graders. Turned out to be I didn’t make the team because of attitude, weight, and temper.
As a 7th grader becoming an 8th grader after the summer: I got cut last in tryouts last year. Over the summer I worked on my game everyday for at least 5 hours. I went to the camp at Jordan High and the man who ran the camp was the Junior Varsity coach at Jordan. He saving me and 4 to 5 other people a spot on the team because what we learned in camp is what he teaches his players.
This year right now we are having workouts, and tryouts are November 2. I finally got use to all of the running and dribbling looking up, lay-ups with both hands. Also shooting free throws and jumpers, about 200 shots a day. Now I think my chances are high in making the team. But I will let you all know how it turned out next year.
