About Ethan
Ethan Theuerkauf is a geologist with a broad range of research interests in coastal and marine environments. He is particularly interested in the evolution of beaches and barrier islands and how these environments respond to storms, sea level rise, and human modification. His graduate work examines the role of framework geology in controlling shoreline change rates over various time scales at the Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. Ethan is also interested in better understanding the dynamics of coastal depositional systems, source to sink sediment transport in fluvial and estuarine environments, dynamics of Quaternary climate change, and novel and interdisciplinary applications for geophysical research methods. In addition to his work at Camp Lejeune, Ethan is involved in research projects on the Roanoke River and in the marshes of Back Sound, North Carolina.
