Handy Dandy quick mIRC FAQ


Logging on to Tensai Manga Project's channel:

1. Download & install & then (obviously) run mIRC. (D/L from www.mIRC.com or any other locations)
2. When mIRC is run, there should be a status window open. At this window's prompt area, type in "/server irc.dal.net" 
(This takes you to DALnet's default server)
3. At that same window, type in "/join #sdmanga" (This takes you to TMP's channel, one of the channels on DALnet's server)

Basic Leeching manuevers and attacks

4. In the channel window, type in "!list" (This is a command to list all the fserve advertisments)

	Understanding fserves and the fserve ad:
		Fserves are basically folders where people have put files to share.
		Trigger: What you have to type in to go in and browse dem files.
		Sends: First number is how many sends that bloke has going, and second is how many maximum he is allowing at once.
		Queues: First number is how many files have been queued in line, and second is maximum again.
		Some fserves have descriptions of what they are serving, and glimpsing at this can speed up your search.

5. Locate an fserve among the list of ads you are interested in. Copy what is in the Trigger:[      ] box and paste in the channel.

If this is the ad, copy "/ctcp GorillaDunk !Gorilla Dunk" and paste it into the channel window.

6. You should see a new window pop up, you are now almost at your leeching goal! That new window is your connection to that fserve. Type "dir" in that window. (Brings up list of files.)

7. You should see a list of files.

The first thing is the file name, and second thing is the file size. To get a specific file (i.e. SD volume 3 chapter 25) type "get <filename>"

<Uke-chan> get sd0325.zip
<GorillaDunk> Sending sd0325.zip[3 Mb].

And the file is on your way. Or, if the send slots are all taken, you may see:

<GorillaDunk> Queuing [e-f]_hack_sign_ep3.avi(128.4 Mb). It has been placed in queue slot #10, it will send when sends are available.

Which means that you'll have to wait on mIRC for the people ahead in the queues to get their sends before your send will start. (In this case, 9 people are in front of you.)
Or, if you're really unlucky, you may see:

<GorillaDunk> Sorry, there are too many send in progress right now and all the queue slots are in use. If you want to see more info on the current sends type sends.
<Uke-chan> Boo. Uke-chan wants sd chapter 25 (pouts)... -_-;;

Which is somewhat self-explanatory; there are no slots open, so you're best off trying a different fserve.
