Day before Thanksgiving and boy, it was slow at work. My boss called me at 2:30 to say that he hadn't been able to reach anyone in finance. I tried to change my message; you know, the 'we're closed for the holidays' sort of thing. But I couldn't get into that part of the voice mail system. It was quite vexing.

Mail: I did manage to mail the letters to my Aunt Vivian, Aunt Jeri & Aunt Carole as I left work. They'll hit the post office tonight.

After work, I got off at the shopping center & walked across the street to the drugstore. I printed out the pictures for Aunt Dot & some of the same for Aunt Shirley. The pictures are of my dress, the Colonial outfit that Aunt Dot helped me make. It was a nice little walk. Getting the pictures took longer than I expected because there was someone ahead of me. After getting the pictures, I went to the Chinese place to get Mom's lunch for tomorrow. In all, it took longer than I wanted it & I missed both buses that I had planned upon. So I walked home. It's about a mile and took less time & less effort that I expected. I admit that the bags were a bit of a nuisance sometimes.

Books: I read The Rats, The Bats & The Ugly by Flint & Freer. I quite enjoyed it. It's a good sequel to Rats, Bats & Vats.

I ran into Robin on the bus and told her about Rats, Bats & Vats, by Eric Flint & David Freer & about Baen's library. She told me about her boss always bringing in food. In the past year, Robin has gained 30 pounds. Plus, thanks to the store she & her husband own, they're never home to cook. They've found a plan to try & lose weight. It involves cooking healthy. Sounds like a good one.

Tatting: I finished another snowflake. I still haven't counted how many I've made. Someone at the bus stop recognized what I was doing. I was so pleased.

PDA I finally have batteries! Yay! I put them in yesterday, but the batteries immediately died. So I've had them in the charger. They finally, finally were enough. They weren't completely charged but there's another pair still charging.

STEPS There they were, covered in plastic. So they still weren't usable last night or this morning. Tonight, the plastic was gone. The steps were steady and feel...different. It's because they're level.

Clothes: black loafers, striped black trouser socks, black socks, black short-sleeved sweater (with black beads & embroidery on the neck), onyx earrings, black stone ring, black elastic hair band & the flower band ring.

Tatting I've almost finished another snowflake. This one is size 80 five ring & chain with beads on the chain.

Books Finished a Christmas romance anthology.

Writing a letter to Mitra. Now to write the aunts. Called Mom last night. Maybe go to Jacksonville next weekend.

Tammy from high school emailed me. She's living in Georgia.

Off to get supper.

Okay, either the bus has been running late all week or it was definitely early this morning. Result? I missed it. Since I had a spare 20-30 minutes before the next one, I decided to walk to the next bus stop. By the way, people notice if you aren't at your regular stop. At least two people, one of whom is a 'bus acquaintance' asked me about it. Since the next stop was only 7 minutes away I was going to walk to the one after that but when the sidewalk crossed the road (ie instead of on both sides of the road it was only on 1), I decided to turn back. Turns out the next stop is at the shopping center. Now I know.

Today's Tatting: I screwed up the Mary Konior cross. I tried 'adjust' it to eliminate the thread ends & ended up with something very odd. It will take some examination to fix & since I'm on a little time crunch, I put it aside & started over. I'm still waiting for Karey to reply to my question about my UFO. Hey, some people don't check their email every, single, day.

today's outfit: plaited hair (black elastic); dark green Geoff polo, black jeans, black trouser socks (it's cool enough), black fabric flats (as yesterday), black stone ring & my one really good set of jewelry. The emerald & gold earring/necklace set that Chris gave me. Okay, the emeralds are really small; but they are visible.

Looks like I'll be working on Saturday. It will be overtime at least. I need to clean up my office/desk area and face it, during the week there are too many interruptions.

I finished cards to all of my maternal aunts, I need to address envelopes & mail them. My problem is that I have the wrong address for one, since her last card bounced. I need to fix it before I mail the next one (enclosing the bounced one).

Today's outfit: black crepe slacks, acid washed black/green Harrington Steading Polo (new), black loafers, onyx ring, carnelian ring, flower silver band, onyx & silver earrings & brass hair 'clip.' I finished the FBMO 90's. yeah me.

Chris has an award banquet for work to go to tonight. His brother said that he had to go, perhaps he won something. That would be nice. I bought a book, bad me.

I wrote & mailed a letter to my Aunt Jeri & finally mailed the letter that I wrote to my niece. I'm still reading the Westwood book & I've started the 'how to write fantasy' book. I took the TTA so I have to hurry to go catch it.

Good for me, I've written 2 letters this week & sent them. I wrote 2 epistle emails to people I haven't seen or talked to in months (or years) today. I feel very connected. Too bad I'm supposed to be working through this contact list. Oh well. Back to the grind.

I missed today's mail so I'll mail my note to Aunt Jeri & Uncle Warren on Monday. It's not big deal. I did get my taxes done, not that they are complex or anything.

I fixed the strap on Joe's bag and darned a couple of Chris's socks. He did a few last night & I told him that I'd work on them today. I did a two plus I worked on a third. I finished reading The Redemption of Althalus by the Eddings and read a book with 3 short stories. One was a Harrington one I'd already read, by Weber; the second was a Belisarius by Flint, I think I'll have to start reading the series of that story is any sample & the last one was a Hammer's Slammers story.

I started to work on my Ala Shan material, that's why I'm on the computer, but I can't find where I saved it. I thought I had some on my email, as a note to myself. That's frustrating.

They are still playing the special mission. One character has already died & been reincarnated, he's now an elf. Phelps almost died, again. He was at 0 hit points. Whee! Nick, the GM, said that the final battle had been cut down by 2/3 & they were still fighting 12 specters. Ick.

Back to checking email, etc. I probably won't post again until Monday.
