Website of the day: want to know a little about Keeshonds? They are a rockin' cool dog breed.
2nd website of the day: work with wood? How about some info before you buy or decide to work.
Dental app't: I screwed up and John didn't give me a ride. So I came into work late. I rescheduled for next month. Maybe by then I'll have my car fixed and I won't need a ride.
Gaming: Looks like we're playing Freaks of Nature tonight at Rosemary's. I'm catching a ride with the gm so there's no way I'll be late. Chris has my gaming stuff.
books: I finished The Cove last night. I stayed up too late doing so, too. Ah well, it was a good suspense/romance. Frankly, the only reason I knew the heroine wasn't nuts was that it was a romance & the genre predicates happy endings. This morning I started re-reading Rapture in Death. It's been a while but I'm starting to remember whodunit.
clothes: black: loafers, socks, jeans & polo (w/ purple embroidery [ 2001 Ren Festival]), black glass bead bracelet, silver hashmark ring, fem-power ring, onyx earrings & pendant on long silver chain. My hair is up in a ponytail for lack of anything better.
Labels: dentist, Living Greyhawk, Rapture in Death, The Cove, website
Gaming: Chris's game was last night & we (our characters) learned some things. 1) Mimics are nasty beasties, 2) don't hit them with electrical attacks (they spawn) & 3) grappling a dire lioness is bad for mimics.
website of the day: What's that actor's Bacon number? Ask the Bacon Oracle! And funny website of the day: stick figures used to make science jokes (& literature, etc).
Lunch today is leftovers from Sunday. I'll be having a crabcake, glazed carrots, and mashed potatoes. We ate at Red Rock Canyon Grill with Mike. The food was yummy.
books: I read Innocent in Death last night & learned that I'd missed an ..In Death book. So I'll be looking for that today. I brought Creeps Suzette with me to work but I'm very early into it.
clothes: black loafers, black socks & jeans, burgundy tank/plaid blouse set (tank is burgundy embroidered with a band of leaves along the neck, & over/attached to it is a plaid shirt in burgundy, grey, tan and light variants, with the same leaves embroidered randomly in green), feather charm/quartz chip earrings, quartz point feather pendant on long silver chain, ~rope band, silver dome ring, & my hair is loose for lack of anything better to do with it.

Bruises: Remember that fall on Friday? I do; I have a nice collection of bruises to remind me. There's one about hand-sized on my left hip; it's big & ugly. There's another, about the size of a quarter, on the inside of my right arm & a small, only nickel-sized, one on my right thigh. That's probably from hitting myself with my umbrella.
TV: The Riches was on last night but it started about the time that I needed to be heading to bed, so I didn't watch it.
website of the day: boing boing, a directory of wonderful things
guilty food(s) of the day: milk chocolate covered mint Oreo cookies, Reese's Brownie & Hershey's Brownie (very rich, almost too much so).
books: I finished Hana Kimi #16 & Chibi Vampire #2. I started New Moon by Rebecca York & Punch #3 but just wasn't in the mood.
radio show: I finished listening to episode 15, The Huntsman's Quarry & the Dead Chinese, of the Voyage of the Scarlet Queen this morning. I'm really enjoying that show. Funny thing, according to Old Radio, that's episode 21.
clothes: white turtleneck, black poly-suede shirt, purple slacks, black trouser socks, black sequin/beaded flats, Celtic knot jewelry & ~rope band. My hair is loose because it was falling out of the braid & I forgot my hairbrush.

Supper with Dad: I arrived at the Cracker Barrel very close to on-time. Dad had been there for 3 hours, he said. He had stopped by the shop, between where he lives & where we met, where his moto guzzi is getting repaired. He had the day off and had the time to spend. We had a nice supper, conversation, etc. He showed me the bottle stoppers that he'd made. One of them had a corkscrew in it, very clever.
I had to take my leave just after 9 pm; I was really tired. I stopped for gas and a soda (caffeine to help keep me awake) & got home just after 10 pm. I stopped to talk to Chris a bit & then went to bed. I vaguely woke up around 5 am but dozed & slept until my alarm went off.
Website of the day: Need a laugh? Watch long enough for the mike to be placed in front of the guy in the middle.
gaming: Tonight's it Mutants & Masterminds again.
books: Finished Diamond Throne, book 1 of Elenium & started The Ruby Knight, book 2.
clothes: black jeans, grey suede boots, ~watered cotton purple/blue blouse, paui shell pendant on long silver chain, paui shell ring, fem-power ring & I forgot to put in earrings. I gathered the hair from my crown into a braid with the rest of my hair loose.
Labels: Dad, Elenium, Mutants and Masterminds, The Ruby Knight, website
movie: Half-watched Bourne Supremacy last night. I was going through my iTunes library of purchased songs. I'm way behind on listening & sorting them.
@#$% left my hat on the bus this morning. Gotta go by the central bus depot to pick it up, maybe I can go after work tomorrow.
gaming: I picked up the 2nd endition of Lace & Steel at the recent sale at FE. However, it requires the combat deck to play properly (which I admit, I may never get to do). I have found a source for them at rpgnow.com
books: Finished Blame It on Cupid and picked up Wintersmith again.
website: Making seafood choices for a healthy ocean
clothes: today it's black jeans, black suede shoes, black socks, black belt (w/ gold-tone buckle), brown/black Vorkosigan polo, gold emerald heart necklace, gold & emerald posts & braided hair. It was going to wear it loose, but it's much too windy for that.
Labels: Blame It On Cupid, Bourne Supremacy, Lace and Steel, website, Wintersmith
Happy St. David's Day (UK): Presumably, he's an Anglican saint; I can't say that I've ever heard of him. And Happy Samil Independence Day (S. Korea).
Pout: I finished the last of my Jungle chocolate (w/ pineapple) today. It's sooo good.
website/article: 10 influential women you've never heard of
web slideshow: old cars
tv: I watched the first two episodes of Dresden Files, only 3 more and I'm caught up. Until tomorrow night when the 6th one airs. We also watched Criminal Minds, which had a female serial killer.
books: I finished re-readed Sex, Lies & Online Dating and I read volume 1 of Kitchen Princess manga. I've also started A Little Bit Wicked.
Radio shows: I'm up to episode 9 of the Voyage of the Scarlet Queen & we've finally met Kang, the guy who hired Capt Phil Carney.
clothes: dark teal blouse, black jeans (& belt), knee-highs & loafers with silver Celtic knot jewerly, plus ~rope band & fem-power band. Hair up in ponytail/bun & affixed with lighter teal hairsticks.
Labels: A Little Bit Wicked, Criminal Minds, Dresden Files, Kitchen Princess, manga, Sex Lies and Online Dating, Voyage of the Scarlet Queen, website
Gaming: Rosemary's game: We finally finished one module but not the storyline. So we'll get experience & maybe I'll get another level.
Went by my favorite game/comic shop and it's their bi-annual sale this weekend. I spent about a 1/5 to 1/4 of their target sales today. I bought some old AnimAmericas, a couple (old) games, a couple new game books, and some manga. Actually, a lot of manga. Some of the ones that I have on order arrived & I picked a couple new titles to try them.
Website of the day: yoga stuff
Took the ayurvedic quiz & my dosha is overall vata. My body is vata 3, pitta 5, kapha 4; while my mind is vata 7, pitta 3, & kapha 2.
This is from this quiz.
books: I read Last Scene Alive and then Tail of the Moon, vol 3. That's today.
clothes: blue jeans, black socks & loafers, brown belt, grey Geoff "Cleansing of the Oytwood" tee under a grey, ribbed shirt. Flower band ring, paui shell ring & pendant, black bead & ~silver chandelier earrings.

website of interest: Let the World Listen Right, documenting contemporary music in the Delta.
Info of interest: plants that clean the air
books: re-read a few, read Thrones, Dominations by Sayer & Walsh. Then read the one after that, A Presumption of Death. The first was based on an unfinished manuscript; the second had its foundation in a series of published 'letters' among the Whimsey family about their war-time activities. New manga, American this time, Pantheon High. It's the high school for Greek, Egyptian, Norse & Japanese demi-gods (children who have one divine parent). The coach is Hercules and the security is handled by Heimdall. Now I'm reading Best Served Cold by Jimmie Ruth Evans.
clothes: Saturday was orange fairy t- & blue jeans. Sunday, I dressed up a little for Rosemary's birthday supper. I wored banded collar, undyed linen blouse, blue jeans, boots, and emerald jewelry (heart pendant & square earrings). I should have worn my scarf & hat, too. It was cold & windy. But the hat wouldn't have fit over the cream colored hair sticks in my bun/ponytail
Monday, I wore blue turtleneck, which was completely concealed by the tan, brown & black turtleneck sweater, with black jeans, black suede shoes, hair up with the same sticks (after I got to work), and flower fairy pendant, feather earrings & fem-power ring.
Yesterday was warmer, so I wore a burgundy silk blouse, with fringe across the chest, black jeans, black suede shoes, quartz pendants & moonstone/celtic knotwork pendant necklace, quartz chip & feather earrings, fem-power ring & flower band. Mostly I wore my hair loose.
Today it's blue 2005 NCAA basketball champs polo, navy blue slacks, navy socks, navy loafers, & moonstone jewelry. The ring
, the simple cabochon rainbow pendant
& rainbow moonstone earrings. My hair's up in a ponytail with a navy elastic.

cold I'm still suffering but I've not needed to take any meds since Wednesday (yay Alavert). I'm just tired and my ears hurt from the pressure (& not popping).
Neat website: It's a click to donate site called Poverty Fighters. It provides funds for microloans, mostly in 3rd world countries, but not entirely. By helping people help themselves, it provides long term poverty relief. They also have a bunch of the success stories. Most of the organizations have a 99% loan repayment rate. Isn't that spiff. Starting Monday, if you read this & decide to visit, click on the UNC-CH button. It's part of a contest between colleges; winner gets a speaker or a benefit concert.
books: read Lynsay Sands latest, Bite Me If You Can & Tongue in Chic by Christina Dodd. Now I'm reading further in The Pillow Book by Sei Shonagon.
almost a nightmare: I had one dream that started to go nightmarish, luckily I woke myself up before that happened. The other dream I mostly remember. It was very horror-movie-esque. As some very posh or elite school, the science teacher said that sharks won't eat rubber tires, or maybe the tires kill the sharks; either way he assigned his students to find out why or to find a solution. One of his prize students somehow developed a shark that could 'swim' through land (it was very ghostly). It detected weight & was smart enough to tell when you got up on something (it got heavier). It could also smell blood that dropped on the ground. What really attracted it was love (hey, it's a dream). The girl who developed it was the first known victim (there may have been another, earlier victim), so no one knew how to stop it. The rest of the dream was one of her classmates trying to stop it, without anyone else dying. Unfortunately, there was an explosion on the school lab which destroyed more information (& killed 2 more classmates). In the end, the shark was stopped when he ate another classmate, who had a bag full of jewels on her.
clothes: black slacks, black suede shoes, black turtleneck, dark teal ~silky blouse, paui shell pendant on long silver rope chain, black stone ring, silver dome ring, 3-layer texture metal & elephant earrings (keep trying to lose the right one), & loose hair (for the first time in weeks).

Knitting: All I have to do now, is get the scarf off the loom. I read up on how to do that, last night. Now I just need to do it.
cellphone: After a week & a half, my cell phone's charge finally ran down. It beeped incessantly, reminding me that the battery was almost out of juice. Since it's the first time that it as done so, I let it fully run out & am recharging it this morning.
sight of the day: long, black square toed shoes/maybe boots, charcoal grey jeans or slacks with frayed hem at the heels, grey/black tweed coat, black turtleneck & lighting a cigarette & carrying a black leather bag/soft briefcase. He looked like a model playing a 'college grad student/TA. Almost too stereotypical.
books: Finally started reading Odds Against, the Dick Francis I've been carrying all week. I'm about halfway through Trickster's Queen. That old Krentz that I read; it was Uneasy Alliance, not Unlikely.
Website of humor: these two ladies don't review books, they review covers. About halfway down the page I was collapsed over my keyboard with laughter.
clothes: charcoal grey suede boots under black jeans, sage green turtleneck under black faux-suede shirt, emerald & gold post earrings (from Bro & sis-in-law a couple years ago), black stone ring (I don't have any gold ones), & diamond chip & emeral heart pendant in gold (Christmas present from Chris).
Later addendum: for some reason my sock cuffs are unreasonably attracted to my ankles. They keep diving down to reach them.

Tasks I haven't gotten much done. But I have pulled 25 books from my piles to go to the used bookstore. I took a short bath, washed my hair, the usual. I took a pain pill but so far it's only made me dizzy. I've also put some items aside to go to Goodwill/Thrift shop. That results in cleaning up the foyer (big word, small area) so I'll have room to put up my shoes again.
Tooth Extraction: I talked to Rosemary. From what she's told me, I've changed my mind about getting my tooth removed first thing. I thought that afterwards I could go to work but she says that once the anesthetics wear off, I'll be in a lot of pain. So better to work half a day & then go get my tooth removed. I'll call the office on Monday & see about rescheduling.

New button for my blog: I'm adding the button for the yahoo group, Here-be-tatters. So I'm off to edit my template.
books the book I read was Christmas Fantasy not Fantasy Lover. It's by Janelle Denison, an author that I like. I also re-read Trickster's Choice. I have it in hardback. I really like Tamora Pierce. I finished reading If Only in My Dreams. I liked it but I don't think that I'll re-read it. It's about an actress in a WWII period film, who learns that she has cancer right before shooting starts. Then on the first day of filming, she finds herself suddenly back in time, meeting the people that her film is about. It's a good love story (the ending is actually happy), but it's somewhat bittersweet.

Cool Website of the Day: Get Well Gamers, a charity that provides game systems & games for kids in long-term care. Apparently, there's some study that shows that playing video games give sick kids a feeling of normalcy & other good stuff. So these folks try to provide them. Take a look for yourself.
Stuff: Last night John & I took his mom out to Bali Hai for supper. They've changed the rating system, now it's 1-20 instead of 1-10. I got the non-spicy while John & his mom got #2. John said that his was a little closer to a 3 or 4 than a 2 but it was still good. Mine was a trifle spicy, I think it was perhaps carryover from an earlier diner. I successfully managed to eat without stuffing myself silly.
Afterwards, we went to Cold Stone Creamery for dessert. I had the Peanut Butter Cup Perfection, in the 'I like it' size. Even then, I only ate about half of it. I put the rest in the freezer when I got home. Mrs. J had chocolate & vanilla with roasted almonds while John had chocolate chocolate chip.
Tatting update: I finally made the join with the newly loaded shuttle. I only tatted a couple rings but that's a huge hurdle that I was avoiding.
Today's outfit: black tassel loafers; black broomstick skirt with brown & tan flowers & ~floral stripes; black v-neck knit top with 3/4 length sleeves; Celtic andromorph pendant on long coiled chain (almost clashes w/ neckline); Celtic knot earrings (well, Celtic-looking, they're actually from Williamsburg, a Christmas present); Celtic knot ring; flower band & braided hair.
Books: Yesterday I finished The Gourdmother by Maggie Bruce. It's another mystery, this one set in upstate New York. Since I was sitting next to Gloria Small this past Saturday, this book seemed apropos. Other than that, I finished the 3rd volume of Shaolin Sisters & read a bit more of War God's Own by David Weber. It's one of my 'emergency' books on my Palm's ereader.

What Is Your Battle Cry?
Lo! Who is that, striding through the mini-mall parking lot! It is Sewicked, hands clutching a vorpal blade! And with an ominous roar, her voice cometh:
"I'm going to flog you all the way to Uranus, and dip you in uranium!"
Labels: battle cry, website
I am feeling very brain dead.
I had great fun at the fair yesterday but I am very tired today. I was on the fairground by 8:40 am (it would have been earlier but I turned the wrong way to reach parking). I left about 10 pm. I would have been home by 10:40 but they had closed I40 westbound down to the shoulder 2 miles before my exit. Wheee! 12 minutes to drive 2 miles.
I spent lots of money. I bought food like hot dogs, honey cotton candy, maple cotton candy, fudge, deep-fried oreos (not so great), sodas to drink; presents for friends & co-workers; and some stuff for myself, like lip balm, beeswax & a plush bush baby. Although I may give the wax & the bushbaby to someone as a present.
I saw the pajamas that beat my booties for 1st place. The volunteer had to look for it. It is in a different cabinet (with the stuff on hangers). It is nice looking &
very well-made, from what I could see.
I ran into people I know, like Mitzi & Stephanie. We sat & talked for awhile. Saw one of the guys who'd been working on this construction next to my office. I showed him & his wife the booties that I had made & made a tatted flower for her, to demonstrate tatting. My friend, Bill E. was working at the vegetables/fruit competition table of course. He was parked in front of the 1st place watermelon. I heard his spiel so many times
I could repeat it word for word. Of course, I stopped & talked to a lot of people in the Village.
I took my time through the exhibition buildings. I saw the NC Wildlife's exhibit and the Agriculture tent and the Science tent (a lot of people from NC State). One little girl, a 9-year-old, demonstrated her Berry Banana smoothy, a way to get more fruit in one's diet & why that's a good thing. She gave out samples & the recipe. I'd like to try it with something substituted for the maraschino cherries.
I won a teddy bear & a butterfly from the Guessers. One of them did get my weight right, though that scale had better be wrong. One of them was close enough on my age. They all guessed that I'm in my 30's though. I need to wear a t-shirt & not a close-fitting turtleneck next time.
I did a couple errands on the Midway for people in the Village. Well, Beth's plumeria was in the Exhibit hall but Anne's flashing thingy was on the Midway. She wanted it for her magic wand. It's very, um, appropriate. She does a lovely, um Glenda the Good witch style fairy godmother thing. It's hard to describe unless you've seen her do it.
I missed the folk music (no watch), the blacksmith shop, NC State's milk/ice cream/shake & the Garden entries.
This morning is really cold. There was a light frost on my car. I wore a sweater & a jacket & I was still cold. I am still cold, even with a sweater over my blouse.
I listened saw Pink's new single
Trouble. I like it. Here's a link to it
http://www.hyfntrak.com/pink/AFF708/
Click to launch player & then click on the video tab
The only problem is that the video is very good so it distracts me from the song. So I'm listening to the audio to catch all the words instead of most of them.
Okay it's noon. Where's Ashley? I want my lunch.
Missed the meeting on Employee Excellence Wednesday, between Ashely not showing up until 3:50 (meeting supposed to end at 4pm) & Mike remembering our meeting at 3:40, there was no way I could get away. I admit to being disappointed. But Mike & I did hammer out what to do about the new closet & some ideas about re-arranging the hall. Plus I talked to Ashley about what I wanted her to work on while I was out yesterday.
