About the "Global Trends of Internet Governance"

I am Minjeong Kim, a second year Ph.D. student at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The "Global Trends of Internet Governance" is my first blog, and I'm very excited about this. :)

I created this blog on September 17, 2003. It is a project of JOMC 223, titled "Global Impact of New Communication Technologies" class which I am taking now (Fall, 2003). Beyond this class project, I also want to keep this blog as an information clearinghouse for my dissertation since I am interested in the global trends of Internet goverance.

My major is media law, and my focus has been on First Amendment related legal issues in cyberspace. So, I think I am somewhat qualified for writing something about Internet governance --how governments or private entities are trying to regulate the Internet with the help of "law, market, norm, and architecture."

Recent news ("What's Up") are selected from BNA's Internet Law News (ILN) which is compiled by Professor Michael Geist, BNA Consulting Editor.
