Connie Wang. She looks like quite an upstanding young woman. And, I must say, she is. We have occasional spats, it's true. For example, the pronunciation of the word "nuclear". She says "nu-cle-ar", I say, "nu-cu-lar". And for the longest time, I've thought that, yeah, she was right, and I was wrong, and I was just an uneducated ninkompoop. Well, I'm glad to say, I'm not! Click on the lick and listen to the third pronunciation. Hmm... Or take a look at the Wikipedia article. Yeah, it's sketchy, but I'm saying it right! So people, if anyone ever tells you, "Oh, come on, say it RIGHT!" tell 'em to go look at a dictionary! And XF ... 我爱你！

As long as we're taking a trip down memory lane of the past semester, I might as well recount that this is the semester I started, uh, drinking like a real college student. Now, it's not like my personality changed or anything. My first two years weren't, like, incubation for the college student alcoholic in me. Rather, I've always been too much of a wimp to get a fake ID, so turnin' 21 meant I didn't have to rely on Jared for my alcohol anymore. It's very liberating, huh?

But to go along with my story, the past weekend has been a true culmination of my, uh, alchohol consumption. I'm a bit hungover now, so that helps. So my story starts on ... well, Thursday. I'm out of money, because of annoying overdraft fees, so -- oh, no, I saw Bill Nye on Thursday! That was pretty awesome. The organizers of his speech gave him a Carolina bow tie, and a girl who came up to ask questions asked him to go out and drink with her. THAT was awesome. So afterwards, despite the fact that I was out of money, Kareen treated me to a few beers. That's it for that. Nothing exciting.

But Friday, I went with Stan and Jenn Ling to the Chi Psi moat party. They have that nice big house down Cameron, and they erect a swimming pool right in front of it at the end of the year. I went in the afternoon, before it becomes pretty much unswimmable. And I went in in Eric (he's our friend in Chi Psi)'s pants. Wow, that sounds wrong. But I borrowed a pair of his shorts, since I didn't bring a bathing suit. There was alchohol a'flowin'! I mean, there were hoses coming out of the second floor that were fool of pj (I still don't know what that stands for) that you could just siphon off. And I probably drank too much pool water too, which was quickly becoming full of alcohol as well. Bad idea. After that, around 6, I went to Duke to eat with Connie, and the moment I got off the bus, I threw up all over the ground. Yeah, Connie wasn't happy about that ...

... But she didn't stay unhappy too long, since that evening, she and Diana proved that they each could down an entire bottle of wine. Wow. And I have the signed bottle for proof! Connie was insisting that she could walk back from Yeats straight, so I let go of her and, uh, well, she pretty much walked into the road. Aren't I a good boyfriend?!

And last night, Saturday night, we had the DTH banquet, which is basically a kiss off and goodbye for all the seniors. But all the editors get to make speeches, so I had the opportunity to as well. Oh, first of all, the food was really good, and there was unlimited free beer. Bad combination. It was at the American Legion, which is kind of scary, since, I mean, they have a CANNON in their front yard. But back to the speech. I went near the beginning, with Emily, but everyone was making teary speeches about how much they loved the DTH, bla bla bla. Yeah, not me. I'm still a bit sore about not getting picked for Features editor, so my speech was:

"Hi. My name's Adam. Y'all might not know me, but I'm the guy who won the superlative for "legally insane". And after three years at the DTH, that's all I have to show for it. So thanks!"

I really did win that superlative. Yay... Some of those speeches were really, really long, with lots of drunk weeping and anger. Yay again. My favorite things. But I guess Joe must of known I was sore or something, because as I was leaving (after four and a half hours, and me and Emily left early!) he gave me a hug and said, "I know you think we think you're an oddball, but you're part of the family." Which was really nice, actually, and did make me feel better. Of course, we were both drunk.

And not much more to tell than that. I got back to the dorm and bothered Fahmida and Marium who were "studying" Arabic. We ended up, uh, dancing (Marium showed me how to properly shake my butt and do a belly dance) and playing card games. And Marium's a dirty cheater.

And yeah, that's it for my weekend. I went on for a while, huh?

Hey guys! So I'm going to start doing the Rodman Blog again. Yeah, it's been a while, hasn't it? And it's been too bad that I haven't been posting, because I had a pretty damn good semester (it's pretty much over now; it's finals week and I'm just wasting time instead of studying). So I'll try and sum up everything big that happened in, well, list form. Also, it's (right now) in no particular order, since I'm more brainstorming than anything else.

1) Crazy awesome trip to Hanging Rock with Sarah, Connie, Marium, and Rhea.
2) Even awesomer camping trip to the Outer Banks with Sarah, Connie, Marium, Stan, Erica, and Rhea.
3) Going hang-gliding at Nags Head with mah papa over spring break.
4) Getting into NCAA basketball and the tournament for the first time.
5) Being an assistant editor at the Daily Tar Heel and just generally having a pretty awesome time there.
6) Forcing Connie to rush Franklin Street with me (and being one of the rushers there) when we kicked Duke's ass
7) Turning 21 and not remembering it all, except "Adam beats women!" Thank you, Tom.
8) And in that vein, learning to play lots of drinking games, and learning how bad I am at beer pong and how good Connie is at flip cup.
9) Getting to go on an adventure in rural China this summer with Connie!

And despite that it's really cheesy, number 10 would be spending lots of time with my friends, new and old, instead of, like, doing work or something. And that's what you would've read about, had I written this semester. There are other things, I'm sure, but they're not coming to me right now.

Anyway, this is the relaunched Rodman Blog! I'll be putting up photos at my Flickr account (in the sidebar), and that's where I'll be putting ones from China as well. So check it out! And check back for, like, updates and stuff, huh?

One week down. Well, like three days. Or four or something. But what a week it's been! Well, not really at all, actually. I've been working a ton. I had prebudget Wednesday, which means I have to work past midnight. But I got my first paycheck today and THAT was pretty awesome. My clases all seem like they'll be no big problem, but it's only been the first days I suppose. And I've shaved my beard off, but before I did, I did this sexy little number:

Oh yeah, I look HOT. Of course, I only had it for, oh, about an hour or two before Connie saw it and promptly made me shave it off (when she was unable to look at me, I kinda got the picture. YEAH...).

And yeah, that's about it. The Naturals had their gig tonight, and in honor of them, here's a treat for you all: a special from those early days.

Before there was Doug, before there was Yeats, before they SHOOK THE WORLD...

they rocked the vote.
