Some Final Photos

Don't we look BAD? I think so. Sabrina thinks this would make a good band photo. Lara wants to call our band "The Crew" but Sabrina wants "The Queers". I'm not sure I like that ...

But we went on a walk this morning, so here are some happy photos. Some dogs ran up to us, and we were kind of scared. But not all that much. We're really brave. Oh, also, this morning, Alanis Morissette's "Ironic" came on and Sarah got kinda spooked. The plane crash thing, ya know? It should be an interesting flight. But to recap my dog story, the one dog that followed us (we'll call him Scrappy) peed every 30 seconds. I feel his pain. I pee about 4 times in an average movie.

The rest of the photos:

Can you guess whose butt is whose?
All of us kids together
Now let's guess the shoes! - Lara thinks that one's shoes are a reflection of one's self. Uh huh. "They're just really individual looking! No, what's that called? When you get them together they all look different?" Right Lara.
It's really windy around here

Okay, we're leaving in about a half hour. So this time, REALLY, my next post will be from London. And, er, Lara's too. And I'll leave you with a quote from Lara: "A guitar is like a woman. You cannot strum her too hard, or else she might break." Read it with a crappy Spanish accent for maximum effect.

Why Yoga is Stupid

My mom wants to do yoga stretches on the airplane. She's been practicing downstairs for, uh, Sarah says, "Two hours," but I think that's probably just a little bit of an overstatement. But here are some of the highlights:

My uncle looks a little bit TOO happy

... wow ...

So yeah ... my point is, my mother might want to REALLY reconsider doing yoga on the plane. Probably won't give those Britons such a good opinion about Americans ...

Last Day in America

We're gonna be leaving in a couple of hours for the airport. Lara has figured out how to post photos, and we invited Sabrina to post on the blog (even though she's not really a Rodman). But Sarah thinks the blog is, and I'm quoting, "stupid", so she won't be posting anymore. I guess Sabrina's kinda like Sarah's replacement. Nothing interesting today, just, uh, commemorating our last day in America. I haven't showered yet, so I better. The last time I saw my great aunt, I was growing my hair out, and, um, well, she's like an 80-year old Iraqi lady, and I guess my crazy American haircut was just too much to her. So this time, I probably shouldn't walk in to her house with my hair sticking a foot in the air. And, uh, I apologize to Connie for that picture, but it's the only one that I have on my laptop with my ponytail.

So I guess my point is, soon I'm going to have my last shower in America. Makes me feel all teary inside. But hey, at least I'm showering!

My next post'll be from Ye Olde Londontown. Let's get British!

View Pictures HERE

This is a picture from about a year ago that I took in Washington DC. If you don't know, and hopefully you do if you are looking at it (unless you are some strange stalker person, then please just leave), it's a picture from right to left of Adam, Aunt Jamie, Sabrina, Lisa, and Sarah. At least, I think that's the order; I'm not looking at the picture right now. But again, with the stalker thing, it does not really matter which order I put the names because if you are not a stalker, then you already know the people, other than Aunt Jamie. Alright, whatever.

For Connie: A Picture of Me

Because Connie was so considerate, and commented on my comment (unlike Skinner, Nemoy), she gets a picture of me. Thanks, and have glorious day.

Some photos

Here are the photos we took:

Sarah and da fatha
Adam playing a very out of tune guitar
The Hug from Hell - My aunt is a bit affectionate ...
Lara and Sabrina
Zen Alex - My little cousin
Sarah rocks out!
Sabrina - My not-as-little cousin

Yeah, we're screwed up.

Why doesn't anyone leave me any comments?

Are my little log-in things just so ridiculously stupid that they don't even warrant a response? So, please leave me a comment, and I will leave you a picture of me. That sounds really egotistical. Like my picture is so great a reward because I am so incredibly sexy. Thanks. Alright ,I'm going to go and talk to Aunt Jamie and Sarah and Lisa. I think Adam's thingies are more interesting than mine. Adam is trying to give Alex advice on getting girls. Now he is pretending that Alex is a pretty girl.

"I put a lot of thought into my music. Sometimes I cry when composing it. Is that a thong you're wearing?" -- That is what he said to Alex.

Now Adam is the woman - they have reversed their roles.

Wit Da Auntie J

So we're in Perceville, Virginia now, with my aunt, uncle, and cousins. It's about 30 minutes from Dulles, I believe. We left about 11 this morning, after I had had a haircut and we picked Lara up from State. It was a, uh, interesting ride. Us three kids have WAY too big butts to be sitting all in the backseat together. We got back! But yeah, I lost feeling first in my right buttcheek and then later in my right light. And Sarah get singing "Jumpin' Jack Flash" by the Stones, which is better than what she sang last vacation, which was "Brick House". Every day. Multiple times a day. I don't know who wrote that song, but I wanna slap 'em. I guess we're just getting in the British music mood ...

So we finally got here. I played video games with Alex for a little bit. I suck at video games. And it's really annoying when an 11 year-old beats you. But yeah, my mom had a little too much wine (which was only 2 glasses! but I guess she just can't hold her liquor) and was acting REALLY weird. All weird huggy and such and saying the WEIRDEST things. She's so weird.

We also celebrated my aunt's birthday. She's, uh, 43 on Sunday? So my aunt blew out the candles on the cake that Lara made at home, and my uncle was like, "She's 43 and she can still blow." Wow, that was funny. And Alex was there too, but he probably didn't get it. He has a little girlfriend now, named Taren (or Taryn?). Uh, the way he described it, he was her Aragorn and she was his Arwen ... which is REALLY nerdly. But the way he described it, it sounds like he's got a little love triangle going on. Mah Al-man is a PLAYA! And when I was in fifth grade ... uh, I don't think girls would even talk to me ...

But anyway, Sabrina and Alex have a digital camera, and Lara's been taking pictures for the past 20 minutes or so, so later tonight, I or Lara will post them up here. My next post should actually be from London (or maybe it'll be tomorrow while I'm still here). So yeah ... I guess you'll get some pictures soon? Yeah. Hasta luego!

Leaving tomorrow

So we're leaving tomorrow to drive to my aunt's, since we have to spend the night since our flight leaves Saturday at 7:30. Airplanes don't really scare me like they do some people, but I gotta say, I am a little more jumpy about hijackings and terrorism and the like, even though I really shouldn't be. Like on our flight back from Spain, someone opened champagne or something, and I was seriously worried for a little. And while we were in Spain was when Richard Reid (I do believe that was his name) decided it'd be fun to put a bomb in his shoe. I remember thinking, "What the HELL?!" when I saw the headlines in Spanish. Really made me doubt the quality of my Spanish education until a saw an English headline.

But yeah. Still, this article makes me a TEENSY bit nervous. Though that's not our flight, the flights from Dulles to Heathrow do seem to get terrorist threats all the damn time ... Fun stuff! And I know I'm probably more likely to die on the car trip to Washington than the flight, but know what? Somehow, that doesn't make me feel any better either...

But it happier news, Lara's now posting on the blog. And also signing her name Nemoy, Skinner. Not that that makes any sense. Maybe she's Leonard Nimoy's evil twin or something, who signs his name backwards. Or her. Or whatever. Lara's weird. But yeah, I guess all three Rodman kids are now posting on the blog, which is kinda cool, I guess. And kinda dorky. Really dorky. Which describes my family. But I'm going to bed, so I'll probably post sometime tomorrow, or if not, when I get to London. So as they say in Britain, er, bye!

This is MY image.

Okay, so images weren't working because we have not one but TWO pop-up blockers installed on our home computer. Silly me. In any case, click here to see a, uh, happy pic of me at my high school graduation ... Yeah ...

My Photo!

This is my picture! Never mind, you can just imagine it.

I wish I knew what a poon was...

Travelblogging!

Welcome to the Rodman family travelblog for our trip to London in Spring of 2004, very appropriately titled "A London Travelblog". I'm very creative.

But yeah, a travelblog is a mix between a travelogue (a piece of writing about travel, according to Merriam-Webster) and a blog, kinda like an online journal, though the exact definition is hard to pin down. I wish I could take credit for the term -- it's quite creative, I think -- but, alas, it's been used before (lots of sites, like Travelblog.org, beat me to it).

Anyway, this site is kind of a mix of a travel journal and a scrapbook, updated (hopefully) in Internet cafes in London by any Rodman who really wants to (Lara, Sarah, and I are doing it so far). Other than posts by the three of us, there'll be photos (though after the trip, since none of us have a digital camera), scanned miscellany, and hopefully videos made by Lara. Feel free to leave any comments you want; I'm using HaloScan for those. I made this blog on Tuesday, March 2, 2004, and our flight is Saturday, March 6. So we're leaving really quite soon.

This is the first time blogging for all of us, so, mm, bear with us if we make any stupid mistakes, and forgive the ugly, standard Blogger site.

Okay, it's almost 1 in the morning and I have a test tomorrow. I should probably be off to bed. Au revoir! I have a French test ...
My name is Sarah Rodman. I am really cool. I am going to England soon and I am quite excited; however, I have to study for Music Appreciation.
-Sarah Rodman

Hey! Welcome to the London Travelblog, which is a horrible, dorky pun. But this is just a test post to see if I can get this stuff to work...
