Math 529 Mathematical Methods in Physical Sciences II

Text : Advanced Engineering Mathematics (9th Ed.) by E. Kreyszig and Quick Introduction to Tensor Analysis by R.A. Sharipov.

Course Content :Chapters 12-17 of text book and Chapters 1-3 of Notes.

Grading: :Grades will be based upon 2 tests during the term and the final exam. The final total will be calculated according to the following formula: 2 Tests (Each 25%) + (25%) Final Exam + (25%) homework. The letter grades will be based on the following scheme: A:92-100, A-:90-92, B+: 88-90, B: 80-88, B-:78-80, C+: 75-78, C: 70-75, C-: 65:70, D:55-65, F: less than 55. The letter grades will be based upon the final total score of the student which may or may not be curved and is left to the instructors discretion. A grade of 'I' will not be given to avoid a grade 'F' or for additional study time. All exam schedules will be strictly adhered to.

Exams

Exam Policy: : No makeup exams will be given normally unless under extenuating circumstances. A missed test may be excused upon valid proof of absence. A valid missed test will be replaced by the final exam score . Please plan your activities and trips in such a way that it does not coincide with the tests. The dates for the exams are given below so please make sure to keep up your attendance. In case of any absences the student is responsible to obtain the notes for the class from a fellow classmate.
