Thank you for visiting my website! I am a third year PhD student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My main research interests lay in the subfields of International Relations and International Political Economy.
More specifically, I am interested in the political effects of globalization generally and foreign direct investment more specifically in developing (and democratizing) countries. How do the domestic political interests and institutions of developing states change in an interdependent world economy? In particular, what determines the investment promotion strategies states pursue? How, in turn, do choices about how to compete affect the relative power of domestic interest groups? How do these changes in power affect political institutions? Ultimately, I argue a complete understanding of the political effects of a globalized economy on developing countries must look not only at domestic politics but also at the place a country holds in the international system.
Before graduate school, I spent three years working as an investment analyst for Smith Barney at a branch level. There, I worked for a team of investment advisors as we determined appropriate asset allocation levels and investment vehicles for our clients.
