Mind Sirens, Spatula

Mind Sirens are one of the longest-running bands in the Triangle, a strange neo-psychedelic guitar band which doesn't noodle, doesn't meander, but rather makes "rock" songs which build to strange heights on the strength of singer/guitarist Brian Butler's fucked-up vocal warble.

Spatula make frantically beautiful squalls of guitar/drums/cello which are most akin to standing in the path of an oncoming storm. There is plenty of time to watch and wait for what's about to hit you, and it comes on slow enough, but the first sheet of cold water hitting you is still a fucking shock to the system.
