Sclix are the current mackin' new wave combo of Rev. Scott Hicks, who used to front Rights Reserved and Eagle Bravo. Never fear, they're not another snotty whiny punk band. They've got more in common with Devo. Mind Sirens are Mind Sirens. In the running for the title of longest-lived local band, and certainly one of the originators of the "Chapel Hill Sound," which doesn't exist, but if it did, it'd sound like Mind Sirens. Fractured shrill reverbing guitars and Brian Butler's crazy brilliant fucked-up songs of sorrow and cold weather and about a thousand other things. Goon Island. Pay attention. This is their first show as Goon Island, and their second show total as a rock combo. They're from the Triangle, but they don't play the Triangle. They play outta town. They've got two former members of HMS Cervix (Shannon and Anne), and one David Jordan, who is ex- a couple of Wifflefist bands (Polycarp, Beatless), and sole member of a couple of others (Wanton Loveboy, Glockenspiel).
