Family

The full extent of the Corwin clan, all gathered at my uncle's Long Island beach house during the summer of 2000. Descriptions of each family member are below with his or her picture.

My mom, Rebecca, hands down the most consistently positive figure in my growth. "Act, don't react." My dad, Stephen, a source of much laughter (as seen here) knowledge, and the resources to allow me to grow as an individual My brother, Forest. Think me, only seven years younger, much better in sports, a great photographer, and with a lot more cool. My sister, Heart, always my inspiration for all things artistic. Simply too many talents to mention.

My Aunt Barbara and Uncle Randy at their wedding last summer. Both amazingly successful individuals, and yet they never fail to give as much time and attention as a nephew could want. My cousin Kelcee, who despite frequent attempts since a young age to knock me to the ground, is a wonderfully caring friend..

Roomies

Brian Millikin, endless supplier of witty phrases, clever kickers, sense of style, and some of the best fiction and non-ficion writing around. Glenn Hollar, my loyal companion since 9th grade, who somehow can put up with all my insane quirks (and grammatical errors). An amazingly well-grounded person with a true sense for comfort, not to mention a great poet in his own right.

Brian and I on Halloween sophomore year. It was a great night, and I'm sure Brian would love to tell you about it... Glenn and I after the moat party sophomore year. Poor Brian has to sit through our horde of shared memories and inside jokes on a regular basis.

College Companions

The lovely and wonderful Jennifer Gourdin. Without our coffee conversations about life and what not, I would probably go insane. This was on Franklin St freshman year right after we beat Duke! The lovely and amazing Kim Craven (left) and Stephanie Horvath. Not only are they fantastic friends week in and week out, they're also the two most talented journalists I know. Kim took the photo on this site's homepage and Steph has been my model for reporting excellence since I started reporting. The lovely and fantastic Allison Perry, whose general enthusiasm is always contagious. As you can see here (from my 21st birthday), she also makes great cakes.

The lovely and incredible Melanie Fehrenbacher, who at times I think is the only person who looks at life the same as me. Needless to say, that makes her an incomparable friend. I've made a lot of great friends from sophomore year in Craige Residence Hall, but minus Jeff Wood, these are the few that have made the greatest positive impact. From the left, that's Jared Zajac, Kavitha Balachandran, Elizabeth Daniel and Emily Flemming. This is in Beafort, North Carolina outside Emily's fabulous (and sadly ex) beach-house The lovely and unique Jenn Rainey, whose coolness as an individual is matched only by her thirst for adventure. The perfect companion for road trips, get-aways, or other excursions of the adventuresome sort

High School Buddies

Graham Reynolds, a great friend through every down and up of the high school ride. He's riding high here. Glenn and Graham on our trip last winter to New York. This pic pretty much sums up the personality of my two best high school friends. Now if only Graham could lose the frat look... My other fantastic friends from high school can't be forgotten, from left, that's Glenn, Ricky Brown, Andrew Barnhill, me, and Owen Evans.

This is right outside my house in Asheville and right before our senior prom. Yes we are big dorks, but at least we can dream about living in style. And here's the one classic photo of all six of us. I guess we all rarely hung out as a full group, but any combination of 3 or 4 or 5 of us made for some great times. And it still does.

Betsy Waddell, a great artist who's friendship has withstood a lot and continues today no matter how far she travels in her pursuit of a career in animation. Check out her site here. From left, that's Elizabeth Trufant, Leah Maddox and Michelle Gooch. High school just never would have been the same without them. And no, this photo wasn't staged. They do these sorts of things naturally. Hope Larson, a tremendous artist and friend whose ever insightful outlook on life has been a profound help to me through high school and beyond. Check out her site here.

And One Great Team

Ahhh yes, our soccer team senior year; 21-2 record, regular season and tournament conference champs, state semi-finalists. It's still the one thing I miss above all else from high school. That's me in the center hogging the conference trophy.
