lotus blossom tank

pattern: lotus blossom tank from interweave knits summer '06 magazine

yarn: rowan 4 ply cotton

color: black

needles: addi turbo US 3 for start, US 2 for main

details: gauge is a strange, lying beast. i did a gauge swatch in the pattern, washed it and all, which is especially critical since the stash yarn i'm using is of a completely different gauge than the recommended southwest trading company bamboo (dk weight?). the maths told me to cast on for the medium in hopes of realizing a slightly smaller than small size. after working almost a full repeat, the tank measured over 40 inches. should have been closer to 30" (factoring in lots of negative ease since it's cotton). so now i'm working a size that doesn't exist, in effect creating an extra small.
