lacy silk tuxedo top
pattern: "silk sweater with frills" (pattern 14) from rebecca 33
yarn: tilli tomas pure & simple
color: jade (a beautiful semi-solid)
needles: addi 5 for the picot hem, addi 6 for the rest
date started: 6-17-07
details: the yarn i'm using gets a slightly larger gauge, so i'm making the small size even smaller (cast on 188 instead of 204). adding waist shaping along the side "seams" (would use princess shaping - my new favorite - but i'm afraid that would distort the central lace panel). update: ok, i'm going to try the princess shaping. will leave 8" in the middle worked straight, with the princess shaping on either side (4" or so). the lace panel is only 5", so i'm thinking this will leave enough room for any biasing to not distort the lace. thank you to nonaknits, whose vertical darts post convinced me this could work. (my last vertical dart project - ms. marigold - only had 5.5" in between the darts, which probably would not have made the lace look too purty.)
