PUPA 74: Analyzing Politics and the Policy Process, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
By request, spoke on the role of local and institutional history in the process of understanding the behavior of public agencies. In this case, the focus was on North Carolina public libraries and the place they hold in the political and community environment.
- Have delivered numerous presentations to diverse audiences, from individual combat pilots to the Director of Central Intelligence, from local community groups to Congressmen and international heads of state. Particular successes late in my military career were the presentation to the Base Closure and Realignment Commission in 1993 which convinced them not to close the Presidio of Monterey and the presentation to the Commanding General of the Army's Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) in 1994 which convinced him of the lasting benefit and the forward thinking of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center.

Special Interest
- Escort officer for the first post-Camp David Accords visit to the US (in 1980) of senior Egyptian Army officers. Although the visitors were Army officers and I was an Air Force officer, I was selected because of understanding of Arab culture and ability to converse in Arabic (an ability which has, sadly, faded from disuse).
