General information

This is an introductory statistics course which will cover the following topics: Data analysis; correlation and regression; sampling and experimental design; basic probability (random variables, expected values, normal and binomial distributions); hypothesis testing and confidence intervals for means, proportions, and regression parameters; use of spreadsheet software. The course will introduce the students to the Excel spreadsheet software. Note: you do not need to know Excel from the outset.

Prerequisite: Math 110 Credits: 3

Textbook: Introduction to the Practice of Statistics; 6th Edition by Moore, McCabe and Craig (2009). Access to the accompanying "StatsPortal" is also required.

Homeworks

Homeworks count for 20% of your final grade. Homeworks will be posted at 2:00 pm every class day at our course site ( STOR155: Section 1 (Fall 2009)) at Blackboard and will be due at the start of the next class.
