Adouda Adjiri
One Evening
In my solitude one evening,
I lit a couple of candles
Watched the flames glowing
And dreamed about cardinals
One burned out hurrying
Leaving its mate single now
I wasn’t sad anyhow
For a new couple was mating
We gazed then smiled,
Enjoyed the gleaming dance
All in a melody of silence
Until the evening ended
