Joe Aprile

I grew up in the Bronx, New York. The ethnic diversity of that environment made a lasting imprint on my view of the human condition. I felt the need to express the vivid images I had in writing from a very young age. I have written many poems, chapbooks, short stories, novellas and novel-length fiction. I owe my strong attraction to the poetic form to my involvement with the New York Poets Cooperative in the early seventies at that time under the benevolent direction of Barbara Holland. I have published poetry and short stories. If there is an underlying theme in all of my work, I believe it originates from the desire to understand the human experience and what it means to be human.
