Last Week's Question - How many of you truly remember your elementary school librarian? Do you know his/her name? Do you remember the impact (s)he had upon your developing mind? Are there any male librarians? Are there any female dentists? Operator...operator...

Your Answers -

Claire P - Yes - I remember my elementary school librarian - she was WONDERFUL! (and my MOM!) There are many male librarians - look at the many male librarians at UNC-CH, etc. Many women dentists too -- you are going to get nailed for a sexist question, B!

[I know, I know...I'm simply fanning the flames. I've encountered many great librarians of both genders. Though to be honest, female dentists don't seem to be overly plentiful -editor]

Lauren T - My elementary school librarian was Mrs. Davis, mother of my friend Sarah. I remember she was much less likable in librarian mode than when I went to play with Sarah. But, she deserves props for pushing The Phantom Tollbooth and The Whipping Boy.

And my Dad is a librarian, as are his cousin and her husband. So that's a 2:1 male-female ratio in my family.

Who hasn't killed off all her brain cells and old memories? BOO-YAH!

[I see, using the "not-so-random-not-so-impartial survey" to support your claims, very clever. -ed]

Linda D - In all honesty all I remember about my librarian was shush your late bringing this book back, and look it up yourself. I am not sure if she really looked like this but I have an image in my mind of this cranky lady with a bun and never smiled, when I look back as a child this woman I would think was meek now scared the hell out of me as a kid. As for a Woman Dentist I have one. Ya I would have enjoyed a really cool good-looking male librarian.

[Linda, I'll make sure those cool good-looking male librarians know that you're out there. -editorial person]

This Week's Question - July 4th. Independence Day, patriotism, the Stars and Stripes. For a long time Americans have been proud of the flag, but an interesting trend has been to slap the flag on everything from stickers to bathing suits. Is this taking patriotism to new heights or to new lows? Is the flag significant or hollow? (Could there be a middle ground? Of course...but that's too boring to put into a question.)

Don't be bashful, Send in your Answers!
