Confusion
In the jungle of despair,
harassed by cruel nightmare
by surprise arrives confusion
blinding you with evil light
to force you to blame wrong culprits
to have you hate tall green palms
to make you curse on your land
to despise stars and beaches
and to suddenly reject
your brave history and own self
as if wanting to look like
an extraneous someone else
But you're worth much more, islander
and forgive your alligator
who is not the real predator
for your affront and opprobrium
Your richness, pride and welfare
which you won't find anywhere
are hidden by ruthless creature
beneath your mountains and prairies
till God decrees the spell ceases,
so bear torture with strength
and your deed won't be in vain.
