Our first project was a rather large cedar chest (shown above). Although is is not perfect, we think it is beautiful.
Second on our work schedule was a baby cradle. It is a Scandinavian design that rocks front to back rather than side to side. Both of our boys spent their first six months in this cradle.
Next we purchased a scroll saw and have done several small projects. But we decided that personalized picture frames would be a great idea and we have made them for most of our nieces and nephews (we haven't yet done them for the newest additions).
We have made several kinds of puzzles with the scroll saw. These include a dog, a cow, an apple inlaid puzzle. We made several easy racing cars and for the older sportsminded kids we made some racks that hold baseballs, gloves and balls.
For my parent's anniversiary and for Carol's Dad's birthday we made some lamps using the scrollsaw and lots of sand paper. One was made out of poplar and stained dark, while the other was made from cedar and left natural.
