Project Background
These days computer programs help us in every imaginable task, from doing mathematical computations, to storing important data important, to communicating with other people. This makes sense, since computers can do these tasks far more efficiently and often with greater reliability than humans can. However, what if you are a person who has limited literacy or a disability that prevents you from using the often large and complex programs available today?
Through this project, I sought to identify the challenges individuals with disabilities might have when trying to use such complex computer programs or websites and developed a program specifically for such users.

Brief Description
The Health Tracker is a program individuals can use to track their health progress and reach their health goals. Users log in and enter the amount of steps walked each day/week. The program displays how close they are to achieving their goal.

The Future
This program can be expanded in many ways: giving the user an opportunity to keep track of other activities besides walking, adding ways in which participants can keep track of a variety of physical activities and eating habits. The goal is to tailor the program to each user's abilities and preferences.

Work Healthy, Live Healthy Initiative
Work Healthy, Live Healthy is a work-site health promotion initiative designed to address the health needs of persons with disabilities who receive services from community rehabilitation programs. The goal is for the work site to become a place that supports, models, and encourages healthy, but realistic lifestyle choices. Core areas of focus are healthy eating habits and moderate physical activity. A consumer directed Wellness Committee meets weekly to direct the program, and organizes weekly lunchtime physical activities, such as walking and stretching.
