Brad Broders' Website About Me Hello to all! Thanks for visiting my site. To those who don't know me, my name is Brad Broders and I am a senior electronic journalism and political science major at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As many of my friends know, I was born in Amsterdam on December 23, 1980. (My parents are American; I'm a full U.S. citizen).Though I don't remember much of my Dutch stay, I traveled with my parents all across the European continent until we moved to the United States when I was three. After a brief stay in the suburbs of Chicago, I moved to North Carolina, where I have now lived for 18 years. Between the beaches, mountains, plains and changing seasons, North Carolina has it all. When I was 12, I realized that my life's calling was to be a television sports reporter. And 10 years later, the dream is still alive and strong. After visiting UNC-Chapel Hill my junior year of high school and seeing their journalism facilities, I knew Carolina was the only place I wanted to be. Upon arriving on campus my freshman year, I started working as a sports writer for The Daily Tar Heel. Five semesters later, I decided to move on from print and began honing my broadcasting craft on UNC's student-run newscast Carolina Week. In three semesters with CW, I have done just about everything inside and outside the newsroom, working as a camera operator, technical director, sports reporter, news reporter, news anchor and sports anchor. In my final semester, I've split time between sports and news reporting/anchoring. After graduation, I plan on finding a job at a local television station as either a news or sports reporter. It's a very competitive market, but with Carolina Week's alumni success in the field, I'm confident my work has prepared me for a bright future.
