The Health Sciences on Stamps
January 10-March 13, 1992
From physician to physical therapist, from nurse to nutritionist, from
pharmacist to periodontist, the professions of those dealing in health
and medicine are often the subject of postage stamps the world over.
National and international agencies, as well as governments, concerned
with the health of the public have often resorted to pictorial stamps as a
means of spreading an awareness of the necessity for proper hygiene, the
benefits of good nutrition, and the far reaching effects of giving blood.
Professionals in the health sciences are often honored for contributions
in their field. Many people so honored might otherwise remain unknown to
the public, though their work had saved millions of lives. In this case,
and in the cases on the second floor, are displayed examples of these
commemorative stamps.
