Greetings! I am proud to say that my identity now extends into the digital realm! I must admit that the creation of this site is quite an exercise in vanity, and I'm not precisely sure how I feel about putting myself on public display like this. But it's the 21st century, so I suppose I must do as the digital Romans do. My name is Deb McCown (as the large text at the top of the screen seems to indicate), and I am a journalism student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. When I'm not at school, I spend a lot of time outside (I took the photo above in February while I was camping in Virginia). I also enjoy traditional crafts, eating good BBQ, and writing for Carolina Review, a conservative student-run magazine. I spent most of the summer in Washington, D.C., writing for the Washington Times. The city has an addictive quality to it, but still not one that I could tolerate for long. In August I took a road trip halfway across the country to research my family history, and I recently completed my 7th semester of college. In February I'm leaving for my final semester, which I will spend in Mongolia. Between now and then -- who knows? The possibilities are endless. To find out more about me, you are welcome to explore the links at left to see what you can learn. Thanks, and y'all have a good day. :-) Deb |
