- I hope to obtain an internship in Public relations and have a job in the field upon graduation.
- I am 20 years old and a native of Chicago, Illinois. I am a journalism major at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, from which I will graduate in Fall 1999. I'm on the public relations track and I would like to work in a major metropolitan area like Orlando or Chicago. I am also interested in Student Affairs because I have been working closely with this department at my university for the past two years.
Education
- * I am a Journalism Major with a concentration in Public Relations
and Sociology. I expect to graduate December 1999.
Professional Experience
- Orientation Leader- University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department
of Orientation. Lead programs and discussions with 3000 new students.
Served as a role model and friend to all students, including freshmen.
Represented the University at the Southern Regional Orientation Workshop
and organized fall orientation for a residential area on campus.
Walt Disney World College Program Internship. Orlando, Fl. Initiated Guest service in EPCOT center as a merchandise hostess. Practiced the teamwork philosophy throughout the resort and perfected merchandising skills. Attended classes at Disney University on effective communication techniques.
National Communications Coordinator for the Residence Hall Association at UNC. Served as the link between the University and various universities across the nation. Promoted UNC at all state, regional and national conferences. Organized delegations of approximately 20 students to attend all conferences. Served as UNC's 1999 Conference Bid Team Chair for the North Carolina Association of Residence Halls conference presentation in February 1998.
- FAMILY: I was born in Chicago Illinois
and have lived in Roanoke, Virginia; Montclair, Virginia; Charlotte, North
Carolina; and now Chapel Hill. I have an 18-year-old brother named Dan,
and a 15-year-old sister named Katie. My parents are Al and Gale.
FUN STUFF: I am a Disney fanatic! I love to travel, especially to sunny Orlando. I also like to read and play sports. Relaxing outside in the sun with my family is also one of my favorite pastimes.
AWARDS: As stated earlier, I am very involved in Student Life
at Carolina. I have won many awards for my accomplishments as National
Communications Coordinator for the Residence Hall Association. For example:
* I have been named NCC of the Month for the Southern region of University
residence halls.
* I won the Linker Award presented by the Society of Janus, a honorary
society for outstanding contributions to residence life.
* Presidential Service Pin- given to me by the director of North Carolina
Association of Residence Halls for outstanding commitment and leadership
to the state.
