EXPERIENCE:

Coordinator of Development and Alumni Affairs, UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication, June 2004-Present
• Assist Dean of the school, Assistant Dean and Assistant Director of Development with identifying and soliciting donors in North Carolina and nationally to exceed the School’s $40M goal during the $2 billion Carolina First campaign.
• Schedule meetings with donors and arrange travel for the Dean and Assistant Dean of Development.
• Plan and implement student programs, including arranging spring and fall break trips to Chicago, New York, and Washington, DC, oversee the Career Mentor program and resume workshops.
• Coordinate with the Director of the Annual Fund to solicit unrestricted funds, organize the direct mail program, write solicitation letters, and train student callers for the phonathon.
• Process and track contributions and oversee stewardship activity to individual donors, foundations, and corporations.
• Serve on board of Journalism Alumni and Friends Association, coordinate publications, communications with members, and plan events.
• Coordinate and oversee alumni receptions in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and all over North Carolina
• Write press releases, stories for the Carolina Communicator, the School’s alumni newsmagazine, and assist with the production of The Lead, the Dean’s annual report.
• Perform administrative duties including updating the University’s alumni database, writing endowment agreements, and filing records on donors.
• Manage and train two student assistants in the Development and Alumni Affairs office each semester.
