26 august 2003 - driving from keflavík to to sauđárkrókur.
as hrefna and all her friends say: 'reykjavík sucks! akureyri (2nd largest city - nearby her hometown) rules!' icelanders talk about reykjavíkurs' self importance like we talk about new yorkers ;)... and spending my last night there, i completely got the hint. so - what use is it to hang out there when sauđárkrókur's not too too far away. next page will have some adventures in sauđárkrókur and akureyri. but here are some of the scenes i saw on the way up.
there really are those few trees in iceland - the vikings cut them all down a few centuries ago. keflavík and other parts of the nation are in the middle of lava fields as well - so landing that tuesday morning felt and looked like coming through some clouds and landing on the moon. insane! and starkly beautiful.

the codies and i take rainbows as a sign of erin's presence with us - guess what i saw an hour into the drive... :).
