23 july 2003 - flower walk with bob janke

WELL - i don't have a chance to finish up my handwritten captions, and now that it's been two weeks i remember only the flowers whose name i knew beforehand. sometime i'll get it done, but here's the flyer we had up; and what i have of my captions. enjoy! it was a beautiful day.

bob janke

and his book.

pearly everlasting.

wild rose.

fallen paper birch log with grandfather's beard (lichen) covering it.

believe it or not, this is the same flower; the canada dogwood (no relation evolutionarily to our dogwood; they just look similar) berries into the bright red bunchberry this time of year :).

grandfather's beard up close; it's everywhere here - and is a natural indicator of good air quality. speaks well of this place, eh?
