I grew up in scenic Seven Hills, Ohio. In 1991, I was voted 'Most Independent Thinker' in my high school class, which has always been an ego-gratifier.

I am married to the gorgeous and wonderful Kristin Emigh Riker.  We now live 17.2 kilometers south of the North Pole in Duluth. Minnesota, where we survive by trapping fur-bearing animals and icefishing.

I am a military historian by trade. I'm writing my dissertation right now; I also teach at the local community college.

There has been a baby person named Erin living with us since November 2003. She has taught herself to walk and enjoys tofu, opening and closing things, and stomping in her boots.

That will be all.
