Out West Trip (Summer '02) |

My name is James Frederic Chetwood III, but feel free to call me Eric because, well that's my name. People always ask me how Mom and Dad got Eric out of that name. Well, I guess when you're the third, the parents kind of run out of creativity and so they just chipped it away from my middle name and that's how I came to be. I was born on November 3, 1980 in Winston-Salem, NC and I have lived there all of my life. I was born to Jeff and Jodie Chetwood. I am the youngest of three children, with an older sister Anna and an older brother Holt, but you can learn all about them on the family page.
I attended the great institution of R.J. Reynolds High School in Winston and absolutely loved all four years there, with the exception of the schoolwork. The friends I made there are very special to me and most of the teachers there were great too. I enjoyed playing soccer there and baseball for a couple of years and wrestled for my freshman year. I would have to say that my favorite thing about my Reynolds career was being the MC (Master of Ceremonies) for the Key Club Follies, which is sort of like a talent show type deal. The job of the MC's is to provide entertainment during the transitions of the acts. I was able to do this with two of my best high school friends, Rob Wesley and Jack Alsup. We did everything from a Ladies Man skit to a Tom Green video to our own rendition of Riverdance. We spent at least a solid week doing nothing but spending time together and getting ideas for the skits. We imitated the Backstreet Boys, and came up with a lot of our own skits that were a lot of fun. Those couple of weeks were definately my most favorite memories at Reynolds. Other things, like Friday Football and going fishing together were a lot of fun with all the fellas. You'll see a picture of all the Reynolds boys on the friends page.

These are Reynolds soccer pictures. The one on the left is not me fouling a guy intentionally, I'm going for the ball!
Currently, I am a junior at the University of North Carolina and am majoring in business administration. Hopefully, I will graduate from the business school with a high enough GPA to land a stable job. I hope to get an MBA from somewhere good and work at a job that I enjoy, while never neglecting my family. My only career goal is that I want to make enough money to provide a comfortable living for my family and I want to be able to buy a lake house for my parents. I think a lake house would be a great way to keep our family closely knit. It would give us a great excuse to take time off and get together and would provide relaxation for our whole family. It would allow me to stay close with my brother and sister and allow my kids to look forward to spending time with their grandparents. I would hope that Mom and Dad will be able to sell their house and move into our lake house. That would be my retirement present to them and way for me to say thanks for all the sacrifices they have made for me.
Here are the two coolest ways to relax that I can think of. Vacation #1: Get a couple of the guys together and rent motorcycles for a week or so and ride out to the West Coast together...that would be awesome. Vacation #2: Same thing, get a couple of fellas together and do what they did in the movie White Squall, act as the crew of a ship for like a semester and take classes while we were sailing to all these Caribbean islands and docking off to explore...that would be tight.
My favorite food is the ranch chicken or the chicken lasagna that only my mother can make. My favorite dessert is definitely apple pie and that has nothing to do with that movie. My favorite TV shows are Sportscenter, Ed, and Behind the Music. I have so many favorite movies that it's not funny. I love singing and playing guitar even though I'm not the greatest. I love playing sports sitting around and just chillin and jokin around. You can find my favorite bands on the links page. Some of my favorite things are my new motorcyle, my couch, and mesh pants. I find nothing more exhilarating than driving fast on the highway with all the windows down and singing at the top of my lungs...that's good stuff.
