Introduction - A Brief History of Radio

Using this guide, you should be able to create near-professional sounding audio for the Internet using your computer, some free software, a minimal amount of equipment and a little bit of what I like to call "brain action". In the following pages, I will take you through the five-step process of audio production from start to finish. They are:

  • composing
Mapping out your idea and writing up a script
  • capturing
Recording your audio (for example, on to a tape)
  • digitizing
Transfering your audio onto a computer
  • editing
Making the appropriate changes and corrections and piecing together your final product
  • publishing
Turning your creation into something that everybody can enjoy
Along the way, I'll try and throw in useful information here and there. For the purposes of this exercise, I'll be walking you through the above-listed steps of audio production as I try and create for you a semi-professional sounding sound clip for the Internet! You should be able to follow along and duplicate what I do (though much of your equipment may not be the same, the generic steps involved are, well, generic) so that you too can achieve sucess in audio production! So let's get going!
