About NCEDA
|
![]() |
NCEDA uses its resources as a means to improve and maintain environmental development across the state of North Carolina.
NCEDA is the lead stewardship agency for the preservation and protection of North Carolina's environment. NCEDA administers regulatory programs designed to protect air quality, water quality, and the public's health.
NCEDA promulgates regulations to enforce state statutes relating to the environment and holds hearings to gather information to support the development of such regulations.
NCEDA inspects environmental sites for both clean up and for redevelopment. It provides funding for various environmental projects in local communities throughout the state and oversees those projects.
NCEDA also strives to educate the public about environmental development. Specifically, NCEDA offers technical assistance to businesses, farmers, and local governments. NCEDA also encourages responsible behavior with respect to the environment through education programs provided through the state's school system.
NCEDA has facilitated citizen input on regulatory matters by holding hearings around the state, maintaining telephone hotlines, and convening citizen advisory councils. NCEDA has also expanded access to agency decision making by making its dockets of ongoing rulemaking available to the general public.
In addition, NCEDA maintains this website, which features information about the agency, a staff directory, regulations it promulgates, descriptions of ongoing projects, and pertinent materials and resources. The website also includes an Enviroblog - a place where citizens throughout North Carolina voice concerns to NCEDA about a variety of environmental issues.
The overall mission of NCEDA is to enhance and ensure the quality of life for all people throughout the state of North Carolina.
NCEDA asked the attorney general of North Carolina for a policy to govern its activities relating to the web and the Internet. The attorney general formed a committee and charged it with drafting the policy. The following people were responsible for drafting that policy, which is found on this website.
