Internet Use

Employees can access the Internet for a reasonable amount of personal use. However, this personal usage shall not interfere with the employee's work
performance, quality of work, or have any impact on NCEDA's work environment.

Using NCEDA's Internet access to perform any activity related to computer security or any other type of computer "hacking" is expressly prohibited.

NCEDA has the right to create a log of all websites visited by employees. The log can be accessed and reviewed by management and by Information Technology (IT) personnel. The log will list the name of the employee, the website visited, the duration of visit, the time of day, date, and any other relevant information.

Restricted Sites

Any site that displays pornography or nudity shall not be accessed by NCEDA employees. Additionally, searches shall not be conducted using web-based search engines to access pornographic or adult-based websites. All searches performed that are based on certain restricted words will be logged and documented automatically by the NCEDA computer network. The results of the search will not be displayed on the screen, instead a warning will appear on the employee's computer screen and notification of the restricted search will be sent to IT personnel. If the search was conducted in error, the employee should contact their supervisor and IT personnel immediately. Certain adult-based websites have been blocked. If an employee attempts to access such sites a warning will appear on the screen and IT personnel will be notified.

Downloading

In order to prevent the spreading of viruses, employees are not permitted to download any programs, pictures, applications, games or any other downloadable material from the Internet. If the employee is required to download a program or application in order to perform a job function, IT personnel should be notified. The IT personnel will download and install the required program or application.

Privacy Policy

NCEDA employees shall have no expectation of privacy with regard to all Internet usage, including but not limited to searches performed, websites visited, duration of use, time of use, and attempted downloads. Creation and use of passwords does not create an expectation of privacy.

Federal, State and Local Laws

Violating any federal, state, or local laws (including copyright and trademark law) is expressly prohibited.
