Freedom Summer Tour
At the Sunflower County Freedom Project, we believe
that education should broaden students' horizons, connecting them to the
world beyond their surroundings. Children learn best when they can
explore places and see things for themselves. Our field trips expand
upon the themes of history and technology that we emphasize in the classroom.
On the nine-day Freedom Tour this summer, students visited:
-
Civil rights sites in Memphis, Montgomery, Selma, Birmingham, and Atlanta
-
Science and technology museums in New Orleans, Bay St. Louis, and Atlanta
-
Recreational areas in Biloxi, New Orleans, and Atlanta
It was a wonderful trip!
Students visited Selma, Alabama, and relived the historic march.
