Bobby Seale

By: Milton Chapman

Bobby Seale was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1936. He grew up in Berkeley and Oakland, California. He was a hunter-fisherman, and carpenter. I think the thing that others can learn from him is that he was not scared to be in the Black Panther Party.

Seale was influenced by Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela but it was the life and death of Malcolm X that moved him on. He thought Malcolm X was a good leader because he stood up for his freedom. Seale tried to be just like Malcolm X. He joined the Black Panther Party and then he started writing fundraising books. The Black Panther Party had ten point programs that included fairness in courts, medical health care, and other things. They chose a panther because it showed that they were strong like a panther. Seale was not scared to be in the Black Panther Party.

He wrote and published fund raiser cook books and he also became a jazz drummer. He is still alive today.
