The Volunteer
Center of Durham
Public Relations Intern Fall 2002
Hands on Durham is a program created by the Volunteer Center. Adult members receive a monthy calendar with one-time volunteer opportunities by mail or e-mail. The program is for busy adults who might only be able to volunteer a few times a month during the evening or weekends.
Make a Difference Day (MADD) is a national event usually held in October. This past year Hands on Durham sponsored a project to help The Rescue Mission. A growing nonprofit that provides shelter for needy men, women and children.
The Heart of Carolina food drive is held every December in collaboration WTVD and the City Fire Department to raise food for hungry people.
