"On the Air"

Synopsis:
Betty Roberts, a young writer from Indiana, arrives in Pittsburgh.
She is the winner of a writing competition whose prize is an internship
at a small radio station. Upon arriving at WENN, she is disappointed to
learn that her internship is a non-paying job. Nonetheless, she is fascinated
by this world that these wonderful performers create, the "Theater of the
Mind," She is welcomed by Mackie Bloom, the station's "man-of-a-thousand
voices," Jeff Singer, a romantic leading man, his wife, Hilary Booth, the
station's diva and former star of "The Rivals", and Victor Comstock. the
director of Programming and creative genius behind all of WENN's shows.
However, when the station's sole writer, Mr. Gianetti, passes out from
an overindulgence of alcohol, Betty comes to the rescue. Picking up her
radio script from the trash, she improvises a scene that saves the day
and inspires Victor to hire her as a full time staff writer.
