Synopsis:
Celia Mellon, from the millionaire Mellon family,
arrives at WENN for an audition. When entering the station, she sees Jeff
Singer performing "Bedside Manor". Having met him earlier at the buttery,
she smiles and waves at him. All of this is noticed by Jeff's wife, Hilary,
who storms out of the studio to investigate, leaving Jeff to improvise
on the air. Celia is horrified to learn that she had flirted with a married
man, and Hilary returns to the studio to inform Jeff that he won't be on
the show for the next couple of weeks. When a listener calls in to complain
about Jeff & Hilary's constant bickering on the air, Jeff takes the
call and calms her down. Victor, seizing on the moment, decides to turn
this moment into a late-night radio program, the world's first call-in
talk show : "It's Your Nickel." Mr. Medwick, owner of "Cup O'Comfort"
and played by AMC host Bob Dorian, drops in to see the show. The
show is a disaster until a boy named Jimmy calls and the cast can save
the day.
