Hugh O'Gorman to appear in NBC Miniseries!

Hugh O' Gorman has recently been in England filming a miniseries for NBC.   It's called "The Tenth Kingdom", and is described as a fairy tale.   Hugh will be acting alongside John Larroquette, Diane Weist, Kimberly Williams, Rutger Hauer, Ed O'Neil and Julie Andrews.  Wotta cast!  The series will run ten hours over four or five nights and is the longest miniseries NBC has done since "Roots" twenty years ago.  Hugh says that the filming has been fun and the show should air early next year!

Carolee wins Drama Desk and is nominated for a Tony!

Wow! WENN's own Carolee Carmello is reaping honors aplenty for her role in the musical "Parade".  On May 9 she won an award for outstanding female actor in a musical at the 44th Annual Drama Desk Awards.  This was followed by a Tony nom for the same role!  The Tonys will be broadcast on the 6th of June and we wish Carolee all the best!  Also, be sure to watch the telecast as she might be singing on it... Good luck toots!

In other Carolee news, the "Parade" soundtrack has been released on RCA/Victor (yeah, haha) records and should be availiable in a music store near YOU!

Swing Time Features RW

Oyez, oyez. Swing Time Magazine has included an article on RW in this month's issue. More on this as soon as I can get my grubby mitts on a copy...

Vote for WENN!

A site that holds a poll for Best TV series and Best Actor/Actress has some WENN on the ballot! Follow the link at my Site of the Week page...

Message From On High...

Well, the other night we had a message of inspiration sent to us from the almighty Rupert himself.  So what do you say folks? Let's keep at it! Here's the message:

Yes.  Ridiculous as it may seem, don't lose steam.  These wars, the STAR
TREK resurgence wars, are won by sheer perseverence.  Some people at AMC
want nothing more than for us and WENN to go away.  Don't do it.  Watch the
weekly episodes, savor them and make new discoveries (you'll always find
something new in a re-view of the show), write to the RIGHT PEOPLE at AMC,
not Juris, Sapan, Kate McEnroe and there's another woman whose name I
lost on the NG.  Follow the threads. Don't lurk.  Speak up. Write to Turner.  Write to A&E.  On the West Coast, they don't even know the show is on hiatus.  So many people have never seen the first episodes.  Get them to watch.  This thing won't be won
in a week or a month.  Once a WENN-er, a WENN-er for life.

The show was never set in a new world and so it can never grow old.  Jokes
about Monica L. and O.J. will date and fade, but the technicolor triumphs
of the WENN crowd will never grow old.  So stay with it and it will
continue, in one form or another.

Dorrie Joiner, Wife of Matthew Bennett, Dies in NYC

Stage, film, and TV actress Dorrie Joiner, wife of Matthew Bennett (Doug), passed away in New York on 6 January 1999.  We all send Matt our thoughts and prayers for him and his family.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers you send a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.  Make your checks out to The  Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and send them to:

And in the end...

Well, my friends, the axe has dropped.  As of today, the 25th of September, AMC announced that it will no longer be producing new episodes of Remember WENN.  Read the press release here.  The old episodes will still be shown, but new episodes will not be made.  I hate to revert to the vernacular, but as they say on the street this really sucks.  But as bleak as it seems now, we must not give up.  There are still many things that can be done, I guess.  Maybe I'm delusional but if we try our best we'll at least have that to comfort us.  Anyway, let's continue to bombard AMC with mail.  Write this knuckleknob:

Mr. Josh Sapan
President and CEO of Rainbow Programming,
150 Crossways Park West
Woodbury, NY 11797

AMC Reruns Entire Series!

Starting at the beginning of January, AMC will be rerunning the entire WENN series in order.  This is one of the few things they've done right, now that I think about it...

Remember WENN Earns Another Emmy Nomination!

Congratulations to the crew of WENN for getting another Emmy nomination for Best Costumes (for 'From The Pen of Gertrude Reece').  While it's unfortunate that none of the actors got the nominations they greatly deserve (which instead went to extraordinarily lame sitcom actors), we can only hope that someday WENN gets the recognition it deserves.

Transcript of Melinda Mullins chat at GIST

Well, once again a WENN star had a chat and once again I missed it. DOH. Anyway, here's the transcript:

Transcript of Hugh O'Gorman chat at GIST

The other week Hugh O'Gorman was the star of a live chat with RW fans.  I was out of town, unfortunatly, and had to miss it but all RW regulars were there.  The transcript is very enlightening and Hugh is a really nice guy so check it out!

Cast Appearances Elsewhere

Unfortunatly, the tour of the Rupert Holmes penned Goosebumps stage show was cancelled recently.  Seems the show was too expensive to produce on a touring basis.  A permanently installed run may be under consideration for the future.

John Bedford Lloyd reads the unabridged book-on-tape of the recent Nicholas Evans novel The Loop.

News to Appease the Mallory: Matthew Bennett (Our Doug) will be in Tim Robbins's new film entitled 'The Cradle Will Rock'.  The film tells the story of the controversial play of the same name that was banned in the 30's.  Hank Azaria will play the playwright Marc Blitzstein, and also featured will be Susan Sarandon, John Turturro, and Joan Cusack (groovy cast!).  The movie will be out in 1999 and Our Doug reports that it's fab.
And, lest we forget, Everyone's Doug will also be taking over the lead role of Mr. Andrews in the Broadway production of 'Titanic: The Musical'.  That's fine, because his absence only gives me more time with Our (My) Betty...
In even more Matthew Bennett news, his play Ten Years Apart (written with Sean McCourt) opens on 6 April, 1999 at the Cincinnati Playhouse.  Congratulations!  Visit the production's website at tenyearsapart.com.

Donna Murphy (Ruth Geddy from Episode 18) plays Captain Picard's love interest in the latest Star Trek film, Star Trek: Insurrection.  The film opened in December and will soon be released on video.

AMC Not Selling RW Videos!

According to some who have tried to order them lately, AMC is no longer selling the RW videos.  If you would like to send a letter to AMC and encourage them to publish more videos, I suggest writing them at the address above.
