About Me
Welcome to my professional portfolio!
I am currently a Ph.D. student at UNC Chapel Hill's School of Information and Library Science. In May 2011 I graduated from the MSLS program at UNC SILS. I also have a previous masters degree (a Masters of Arts in Teaching) from the University of Louisville. My undergraduate degree is from Duke University, where I earned my BS in Biology in 2005. While at Duke, I worked part-time at the Center for Human Genetics and the Biological and Environmental Sciences Library.
After Duke, I moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where I spent two years teaching middle school science. I then returned to North Carolina, where I taught 7th grade science for two additional years at a middle school in Durham. In August of 2009 I entered UNC's School of Information and Library Science. My professional interests include science education and information science, especially the information needs of young adults.
