DEVELOPMENTAL NEUROSCIENCE GENE REGULATION BRANCHING MORPHOGENESIS

Midline cellsOne of the key issues in developmental neurobiology concerns how diverse neurons and glia are generated from immature precursor cells. We utilize a simple experimental system, the Drosophila CNS midline cells, to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms that govern development of the motorneurons, interneurons, and glia that comprise the midline cells. Our research effort is particularly focused on elucidating the transcriptional circuitry that underlies CNS midline cell development. The lab also studies how regulatory pathways control tracheal morphogenesis.
