Welcome. My name is Patrick Curran, and I am a Professor of Psychology in the L.L. Thurstone Psychometric Laboratory at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

My research and teaching primarily focuses on the development, evaluation, and application of quantitative methods in the social sciences. My current quantitative work relates to various topics in the analysis of longitudinal data from both a structural equations and multilevel modeling perspectives. My substantive area of interest is in developmental psychopathology, particularly risk and protective factors in adolescent alcohol and drug use. On a good day I try to combine these quantitative and substantive interests into a single program of research. On a bad day I give up and watch the Cubs.

The links to the left offer various  resources related to the analysis of empirical data in the social sciences; some are better than others. I hope that you might find something here that is of some use to you.

Thanks...
