annual incomes of countries with 45 percent of the world's people.

During the last 30 years,the proportion of people with negative
per-capita income growth tripled.

In the 1980s, the socialist countries of Eastern Europe and
the Soviet Union did much better economically than all but a handful of
countries. But after the return of capitalist exploitation, these countries
"suffered steep declines in per capita income whichfell on average by a
third from the peaks in the mid-1980s.
